I get regularly asked what a wiki really is. According to Wikipedia (which is also a Wiki), "Wiki" is Hawaiian and stands for "fast". It characterizes the quick way of editing web pages. In my opinion, "Microsoft Word on the internet" describes best the first impression but it neglects all the community effects that are most important.
